KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026: Yashoda Hospital, Hitec City in Hyderabad has launched the in-house Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) cancer diagnosis and treatment for the benefit of the patients suffering from cancer.
In-house next-generation sequencing (NGS) enables the hospital to map tumor DNA and RNA on-site, accelerating precise and targeted treatment plans for patients with advanced cancer. The NGS cancer testing facility that can detect cancer-related genetic changes with greater accuracy.
The state-of-the-art laboratory is offering tests, including NGS, PCR, Digital Droplet PCR (ddPCR), FISH, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other molecular diagnostic tests to the patients.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, Yashoda Hospital, Hitec City, Hyderabad, Oncologist Dr Shikhar Kumar has said that the hospital has introduced in-house NGS enabling rapid, accurate and comprehensive cancer genomic testing. The availability of this advanced technology with the hospital will facilitate timely identification of genetic alterations, helping oncologists personalise treatment strategies for individuals, he stated.
The new in-house NGS facility will benefit patients with lung, breast, gastrointestinal cancers, among others, by supporting precision-guided treatment decisions and improving clinical outcomes, he said.
Stating that the incidence of cancer has doubled over the last 10 years due to pollution and lifestyle changes in the state, he said that cancer cases are rapidly increasing in urban areas when compared to rural areas.
Dr Shikhar said that cervical cancer among the womenfolk had declined considerably due to HPV vaccination. However, breast cancer among women is increasing due to late marriages and late conceiving, he added.
He advised people to undergo cancer tests at least once a year for early detection and its immediate cure, instead of delaying and causing future problems. He also suggested that women should undergo mammography and Pap smear tests regularly to check for cancer.
