Demand for declaring holiday for all schools in the districts is also growing following rains and overflowing lakes and rivulets
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 01, 2024: In the wake of prevailing weather conditions and the continuous incessant rains and inundation of several low-lying areas and roads, the government has declared a holiday to all schools including the government and private in Hyderabad district limits on Monday (September 2, 2024).
The holiday was declared as a precautionary measure keeping in view the safety of children following the rains.
Meanwhile, the demand for declaring a holiday on Monday in flood-affected districts of north Telangana districts is also growing with the teacher’s organisations appealing to the respective district Collectors to declare a holiday as the rivulets, lakes and streams were overflowing in the majority of the rural areas.
It would be difficult for the students to cross the overflowing streams and rivulets and reach the schools. Besides, the rains were continuing and the old school buildings were in a dilapidated condition.
