HYDERABAD, AUGUST 09, 2024: Federation of Bar Associations of Telangana State and President of Bar Association of Karimnagar PV Rajkumar and the Federation president Kondal Reddy has urged Director-General of Police Jitender to issue instructing the police stations to maintain cordial relations with the advocates in the Telangana state.

In a memorandum submitted to the DGP in Hyderabad a copy of which was released to the media here on Friday, Mr Rajkumar expressed a series of incidents of police personnel manhandling the lawyers and registration of false cases. He said that the Badrachalam police had registered a criminal case against lawyer A Krishna Prasad and ill-treated him by hand-cuffs before remanding him.

Similarly, he said the Siddipet Two town police team led by ASI k Uma Reddy has manhandled M Ravi Kumar, who sustained bleeding injuries. Subsequently, the Commissioner of Police had attached the ASI to his office.

In Jangaon town, the police had manhandled advocate Amruthaiah and his wife Kavitha causing bleeding injuries. He reminded that the Bar councils of the Telangana state had boycotted their duties in protest against the police highhandedness for two days. He demanded the suspension of police personnel involved in the attack on the advocate couple.

In the Rajanna-Sircilla district, the police are involved in Civil cases taking law into their own hands and registering false cases against the advocates. Hence, Mr Rajkumar has urged the DGP to issue orders to ensure that the police maintain cordial relations. He also urged the DGP to instruct the police personnel not to register criminal cases against advocates without thorough investigation and not to manhandle the advocates.
