“Mother Earth is our home, our sustainer and everything. Let’s cherish and protect her with every breath.”

HYDERABAD, APRIL 22, 2025: World Earth Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Sister Nivedita School, The Play School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about environmental conservation and sustainable living.
Our planet is amazing, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution, water conservation and deforestation
Social scientist and Telangana Pollution Control Board Member Dr WG Prasanna Kumar, Telangana Pollution Control Board member Hyderabad Central University faculty member Dr Sumalina, District Science Officer Dharmendra and School Principal Dr T Lalitha Kumar graced the celebrations.
The students were made aware that ‘EVERY DAY IS AN EARTH DAY’ and that celebrating Earth Day is to keep our grass green and our skies blue with more trees and less pollution. The students were excited as they delved deep into Earth Day Celebrations, and they were at the forefront, leading the charge in activities aimed at nurturing our planet and spreading environmental awareness. The hands-on activities taught them about nature and instilled a sense of responsibility toward preserving our planet.
The programme began with a song. The tiny tots dressed up as the five elements of nature – Earth, air, water, fire, and sky enacted a small skit showing that we may be different, but we’re all equal, and important, and together, we make a beautiful nature. A graceful dance performance by the children was also presented, which was enjoyed by the audience.
Children repeated the slogans after the teacher, and promises were made by the tiny tots. “Save water, Save earth, Pollution is never a Solution, and Go Green to Breathe Clean” were some of the slogans that children used to motivate each other so that they could protect the earth and secure the future.
The guest of the day, Dr. W. G. Prasanna Kumar, addressed students and appreciated the little tiny tots for their wonderful performance.
The principal, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, appreciated the children for their active involvement. She emphasised that we all need to do our bit to contribute to the environment positively, which will be one of the best investments we will ever make for our future.
The Chairman of the school, Dr Sudhakar Rao Polsani, and the Correspondent of the school, Hari Hara Prasad, stressed that taking care of the earth is not just a responsibility – it’s a privilege, and we all should feel responsible to take care of it!
Thus, the Earth Day Celebrations were a testament to Play School’s commitment to cultivating environmental awareness and inspiring positive action toward a more sustainable future. Earth is our mother, nourishing and protecting us in every moment, giving us air, food, water, and healing herbs to cure the sick.. So, it is our responsibility to save Mother Earth so that our future generations can live in a safe environment.
