KARIMNAGAR, MAY 12, 2026: As a part of the Education Week initiative launched by the Telangana Government, a special lecture was organised by M. Satya Prakash, Coordinator of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Karimnagar Regional Centre (006).
The keynote speaker, Dr. Sanjay, a neurologist and psychiatrist specialist, delivered an insightful lecture aimed at students on improving concentration, memory, discipline, and study habits for academic success. The speaker explained practical methods to transform short-term memory into long-term memory through proper revision techniques, disciplined routines, and focused learning.
One of the key points discussed was the importance of spending some time with oneself every day. The speaker emphasized that practicing gratitude for everything in life gives mental satisfaction, peace, and better concentration. It was explained that achieving deep concentration from 0% to 100% generally takes a minimum of 20 minutes of focused effort.
The lecture also highlighted the importance of sleep for brain functioning and memory retention. According to the session, after nearly two hours of sleep the brain begins its resting and recovery process, and around 8 hours of proper sleep helps transfer short-term memory into long-term memory. Students were encouraged to maintain fixed sleeping and waking times for better mental performance.
He advised to avoid multitasking and instead focus on one task at a time with full attention. A useful study strategy shared during the lecture was “5 days of learning and 2 days of revision,” which was described as an effective method for strengthening memory and improving understanding of subjects.
The session further stressed the importance of daily planning, maintaining a to-do list, building positive habits, and reducing excessive screen exposure and blue-light distractions. The lecture concluded with motivational guidance encouraging students to remain disciplined, humble, organized, and committed to continuous self-improvement.
Addressing the students, Principal Prof. Ramakrishna emphasized the importance of managing multiple responsibilities in student life and explained that multitasking can be handled effectively through proper prioritization, time management, and discipline.
Satya Prakash, emphasized that “understanding ourselves is the first step towards growth and success.”
The programme was attended by Vice Principals P. Nothin, T. Rajaiah, Harjoth Kaur, Senior Councillor Kannam Ramesh, and otherfaculty members of the college.
Overall, the lecture provided valuable insights into effective learning techniques, concentration building, memory improvement, and healthy study habits for students.
