

HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 28, 2025: Dr Chitikena Kiran Kumar, noted litterateur, critic, and member of the International Benevolent Research Forum from Sircilla, Telangana, has been conferred with the first-ever Dr Vaddepalli Krishna National Literary Award on Sunday.
Contributing significantly to Telugu literature as a poet, short story writer, critic, and editor, Dr Chitikena Kiran Kumar has published numerous stories, poems, and essays in over a hundred journals. In recognition of these literary contributions, the All India Padmashali Welfare Association organised a special felicitation program at the Telangana State Central Library, Afzalgunj, Hyderabad.
On this occasion, chief guests Dr Riaz Ali, President of Telangana State Central Library, literary guide Chilaveri Kashinath, Association President and Vice President Tummasatyam Narayana and Bairi Srinivas, honoured Dr Chitikena Kiran Kumar with a shawl, memento, ceremonial crown, floral garlands, and a citation.
This award has been instituted in memory of the late Dr Vaddepalli Krishna, a renowned national poet, literary giant, and celebrated film lyricist who authored thousands of lyrical compositions. The guests fondly recalled his invaluable contribution to Telugu literature, cinema, and music.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Surepalli Ravikumar, General Secretary of the All India Padmashali Welfare Association, remarked that Dr Chitikena Kiran Kumar’s literary journey will inspire future generations.
The event was attended by former Joint Director of School Education Paladugu Sarojini Devi, noted poetess Dr Radhakusum, Tummas Janardhan, Satyaveena Mundreti, and several poets and writers. A specially organised poetry session enthralled the literature enthusiasts present.
