KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 05, 2024: The Karimnagar District Legal Services Authority officials visited the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women in Nagunuru, on the outskirts of Karimnagar town, on Tuesday and conducted a legal literary camp.
District Legal Services Authority secretary and judge K Venkatesh, along with deputy legal counsellor T Mahesh, visited the Residential Degree College. They inspected the premises, hostel rooms, kitchen, storeroom, classrooms, and other departments and expressed satisfaction with the facilities and food being provided to the students.
Later, they conducted a Legal literacy camp for the students’ benefit. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Venkatesh said that women, especially girl students, should be made aware of the legal provisions available to protect their fundamental rights through legal literacy camps in schools and colleges, as this would be vital for the nation’s development.
“If we can educate the women they, in turn, would educate society and the nation as a whole. When they get enlightened through the legal literacy camps about the legal provisions available for protecting them and their basic rights, they will take the message to society for the development of the whole nation,” he maintained.
The DLSA Secretary also empowered the girl students about various acts such as POSCO, Domestic Violence Act, Consumers Act, cybersecurity, ragging, drugs and others acts. He also stressed the need for the constitution of the legal literacy clubs in the colleges to create legal awareness among the students, especially among the girl students, who could understand the legal provisions available to protect them and their fundamental rights. College principal T Malathi, faculty members P Shankaraiah, E Venkateshwarlu, NSS Programme Officer K Geetha Rani and others were also present.
