KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 02, 2025: Expressing concern over the reports of alleged pollution being caused by Karimnagar Dairy in Karimnagar town, CPI district secretary Marri Venkat Swamy has urged Collector Pamela Satpathy to oversee the functioning of the Karimnagar Dairy and protect the people from the pollution being caused by the dairy.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, Mr Venkat Swamy charged that the Karimnagar Dairy albeit Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited had been using outdated technology in the processing of milk and causing groundwater pollution to the residents. He said that the pregnant women were suffering a lot due to the pollution caused by the Karimnagar Dairy and expressed fear over the birth of infants with several abnormalities due to pollution being caused by Karimnagar Dairy. He also demanded that Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao should disclose the property tax being paid by the Karimnagar dairy to the MCK. He also found fault with unilateral decisions being taken by the Karimnagar dairy without consulting any authorities concerned.
The CPI leader expressed concern over the alleged harassment being caused by Traffic police for imposing e-challans for not wearing helmets and drunken driving in Karimnagar town. Stating that Karimnagar town was a small city with a radius of five kilometres, he said that the government should exempt the two-wheelers travelling in the town without helmets.
Stating that the CPI was friendly with the Congress party, he stated that the CPI would contest individually in the ensuing local bodies elections in some of the places where the party was strong and informed the Congress party to support them. If the Congress fails to support the CPI in the ensuing local bodies’ elections, they would be forced to approach other political parties other than the BJP in Telangana. CPI leaders Koyyada Srujan Kumar, Kasireddy Surender Reddy, Tekumalla Sammaiah, Paidipalli Raju, Kandi Ravinder Reddy, Bonagiri Mahender and others were also present.
