KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 26, 2024: The Karimnagar district, which is the first in the Telangana state to provide financial assistance for self-employment of a transgender under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme, is gearing up to provide training to transgenders in their interested fields for taking up self-employment opportunities and lead a dignified life in the society.
Accordingly at a meeting with the transgenders in the Collectorate here on Wednesday, Collector Pamela Satpathy has assured all assistance for the rehabilitation of the transgenders by providing them training in their choicest self-employment opportunities. Informing the transgenders to take up training in driving of four-wheelers including buses and lorries, she promised to help them secure employment as drivers in private buses.
She said that she would help them in securing financial assistance from the banks for their self-employment opportunities. On this occasion, the Collector handed over identity cards to the transgenders. Sakhi one stop centre Administrator D Lakshmi and others were also present.
