
HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 22, 2025: A nine-year-old Bala Srujan and class four student from Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, has set a new benchmark in martial arts by earning his prestigious 2nd Dan Black Belt in Karate—a feat that is exceptionally rare not only in India but worldwide.
Born on June 15, 2015, Bala Srujan began his martial arts journey at an incredibly young age. He started informal karate training in 2018, at just 3 years old, and by January 2019, he officially enrolled at the Nayak Budokan Karate Academy. In the same year, he also began his schooling in UKG at Sister Nivedita School in Hyderabad.
From the outset, Bala Srujan’s passion and discipline set him apart. His unwavering commitment to karate has helped him secure numerous gold medals at state, national, and international championships. In June 2023, at the age of 7, he achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt, a milestone that many martial artists work years to reach. Not one to rest on his laurels, he continued to push his limits and, in January 2025, reached a historic milestone by earning the 2nd Dan Black Belt at just 9 years old.
Within the Budokan Karate Do International federation, Bala Srujan is the first child to ever receive a 2nd Dan Black Belt. This achievement not only highlights his technical skill but also underscores his mental fortitude, discipline, and indomitable spirit.
Family Legacy and Support
Adding to the family’s legacy in martial arts, his elder brother, Bala Likith, made headlines by earning his 2nd Dan Black Belt at just 12 years old. Their achievements serve as a powerful testament to what young talent can accomplish when combined with dedication, rigorous training, and strong family support.
Bala Srujan’s journey is also a reflection of the high standards set by the Nayak Budokan Karate Academy, which nurtures young talents into champions.
