Cab drivers demand abolition of MV Act 2019

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 16, 2024: The Telangana State Cabs Protect Trade Union Karimnagar district unit members have a raised a voice of protest demanding the state government to create a drivers welfare board, distribute white ration cards, Arogyasri health insurance and house sites and also others demands in Karimnagar town on Tuesday.

Under the leadership of TGCPTU state president Kauda Satish, the cab drivers of Karimnagar district took out a procession from RTC bus station complex to Labour Commissioner’s office in Karimnagar town. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Labour commissioner demanding the government to fulfill a charter of demands.

The cab drivers said that the government should repeal Motor Vehicles Act 2019. They also urged the government to stop implementing the hit and run case under Bharath Nyay Sanhita sections 106 (1) and (2). They also sought reservations for their children in education and cars to the drivers from the corporations.

State Working President Nagaraju, State Vice President Mohammad Afzal, State General Secretary Somaji, Karimnagar and Peddapally District Presidents Sheikh Meera Saheb and Mallesham, Karimnagar District Working President Ankushawali, Vice President Kotte Sampath Reddy, Kotte Srinivas, Peddapally District Vice Presidents Veeresham Karimnagar and others were also present.
