KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 29, 2026: Bahujan Student Federation (BSF) Karimnagar district unit leaders have flayed Satavahana University Vice Chancellor Prof U. Umesh Kumar for running the M. Pharmacy courses from ‘his favourite University Science College’ on the university campus at Malkapur instead of the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at LMD reservoir in Karimnagar town violating Pharmacy Council of India norms.
Participating in a dharna programme in front of the Satavahana University main gate in Karimnagar town on Thursday, BSF state president Lingampalli Mahesh, MRPS mandal president Chenna Kumara Swamy, PDSU district leader Choppadandi Yugander, BSF leader Prashanth and others participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, BSF state president Liganmpalli Mahesh said that the M Pharmacy courses, which is an extension course of B Pharmacy courses, were sanctioned at the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the shores of LMD reservoir in Karimnagar town. But, the Vice Chancellor, with the ‘so-called vision ’, had shifted the M Pharmacy course to the University College of Sciences on the University premises for reasons better known to the VC, he said and reminded that the M Pharmacy courses were sanctioned to the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences following the availability of labs, expert teaching faculty and also a library by the PCI.
Following the shifting of the M Pharmacy course to Satavahana University, there are only a few takers for the prestigious course due to the non-availability of laboratories and library. In spite of conducting spot admissions, there are no takers for the M Pharmacy course at the University College of Sciences, as there was enrolment of only 19 students against 45 students, he stated.
He also wanted to know why the Vice Chancellor was not conducting spot admissions for enrolment of students into various PG and Law courses. He also charged that the VC was according priority only for increase of salaries of Guest faculty neglecting the part-time teachers working for several years.
