KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 08, 2026: The traditional Bonalu Festival was celebrated with religious fervour and reverence at Blue Bells Innovative High School, Hanuman Nagar, Karimnagar, on Saturday. The celebration was organised with the objective of introducing students to the rich culture, traditions, and significance of Telangana festivals.
On the occasion, students dressed in traditional Telangana attire and portrayed various characters associated with the Bonalu festival, captivating everyone with their vibrant performances. Potharaju costumes, Shivashakti dances, traditional Dappu performances, Telangana folk songs, dances, and various cultural programmes were the major attractions of the celebration.
Traditional Bonam offerings were prepared in the school premises and taken in a procession accompanied by the drum beats of Dappu, before being offered to the Goddess. The energetic participation and colourful performances by the students created a festive atmosphere throughout the school campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Janga Sunitha Manohar Reddy, Correspondent/Principal of Blue Bells Innovative High School, said that such celebrations play an important role in introducing the rich culture and traditions of Telangana to the younger generation. She encouraged students to develop awareness and respect for their culture, traditions, and festivals along with their academic education.
Surender Reddy and Paidipalli Raju attended the programme and witnessed the cultural performances presented by the students. They highlighted the significance of the Bonalu festival and its importance in Telangana’s rich cultural heritage.
Students, parents, teachers, and school staff participated enthusiastically in the Bonalu celebrations and contributed to making the event a grand success. The celebrations concluded on a joyful and memorable note.
