PM Narendra Modi hails the victory of BJP candidates in MLC elections
KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 06, 2025: In a close contest, BJP contestant Chinnamile Anji Reddy has wrested the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ MLC seat by defeating the Congress contestant V Narender Reddy by securing a lead of 4,991 votes after the completion of the counting of second-priority votes on Wednesday night.
After the completion of the counting of first-priority votes, Mr Anji Reddy secured the highest of 75,675 votes, Congress aspirant V Narender Reddy secured 70,565 votes, and BSP candidate Prasanna Harikrishna got 60,419 votes. Incidentally, a record number of 28,686 votes remained invalid. With no contestant securing the majority of votes (1,11,672) to be declared the winner in the MLCs, returning officer and Collector Pamela Satpathy ordered an elimination round by counting the second-preferential votes.
After the completion of transferable votes before elimination, the BJP candidate secured 98,637 votes and was declared the winner. The Congress contestant polled 93,531 votes, and the BSP candidate Harikrishna secured 63,972 votes. Collector and Returning officer Pamela Satpathy handed over the election letter to the BJP candidate late on Wednesday night.
The BJP rank and file burst into victory celebrations in Karimnagar town, along with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday night. It may be recalled that the BJP candidate Malka Komuraiah had won from the Karimnagar Teachers MLC seat on Monday (March 3, 2025). The BJP rank and file is upbeat over the victory of the BJP candidates from two MLC seats in the state.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Prime on Thursday (March 4, 2025) thanked the people of Telangana for their “phenomenal support” to the BJP in the MLC elections and hailed party workers for working among the people with great diligence.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister stated: “I thank the people of Telangana for blessing @BJP4Telangana with such phenomenal support in the MLC elections. Congratulations to our newly elected candidates. I am very proud of our party Karyakartas working among the people with great diligence,” he said.
In another post, Prime Minister Modi hailed the victory of NDA candidates in the graduate MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh.
“Congratulations to the winning candidates. The NDA governments at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh will keep serving the people of the state and take the state’s development journey to new heights,” the prime minister said, responding to a post by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the victory of NDA candidates in the polls.
NDA candidates A Rajendra Prasad and P Rajasekharam won the graduate MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh, while an independent candidate secured victory in the teachers’ constituency MLC poll.
