Grand Pre-Bathukamma Celebrations Held at S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 09, 2026: Bathukamma stands as a symbol of the self-respect, cultural heritage and traditions of the women of Telangana, said Prof. K. Ramakrishna, Principal of S.R.R. Government Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar.
The pre-Bathukamma celebrations were organised grandly under the aegis of the Women Empowerment Cell at the college. On this occasion, Principal Prof. K. Ramakrishna stated that it was commendable for students to respect and uphold Telangana’s rich culture and traditions alongside their academic pursuits. He observed that the Bathukamma festival represents the lifestyle of Telangana women, their close bond with nature, and the spirit of social unity.
The girl students attended the celebrations in traditional attire, bringing beautifully decorated Bathukammas made with colourful flowers. They enthusiastically participated in the festivities, singing traditional Bathukamma songs and dancing around the floral arrangements. The college campus was filled with the vibrant colours of flowers and the melodious sounds of Bathukamma songs, creating a festive atmosphere.
The Principal specially appreciated M. Archana, Convener of the Women Empowerment Cell, for organising the celebrations on such a grand scale and for fostering awareness and appreciation of Telangana’s culture and traditions among the students.
The programme was attended by Principal Prof. K. Ramakrishna; K. Surender Reddy, State President of the Teachers’ Association; Vice-Principals P. Nithin and T. Rajaiah; faculty members; and students.
