JAGTIAL, DECEMBER 09, 2025: The National Service Scheme unit of Government Degree College for Women, Jagtial, conducted an awareness programme on ending digital violence against women in association with the Jagtial Obstetrics and Gynaecologists Society (JOGS) in Jagtial town on Tuesday.
On this occasion, the speakers said that in today’s technological era, where innovation defines progress, it is important to recognise that technology, though empowering, also brings new vulnerabilities, especially for girls and women. “From online harassment, cyberbullying and digital stalking to the misuse of personal data and deepfake imagery, the challenges have evolved in both scale and sophistication”, they stated.
With mobile phones, social media platforms and artificial intelligence spreading at an unprecedented speed, digital spaces have become a breeding ground for crimes that disproportionately target women and girls, they said and warned that technology has dramatically increased the scale and the impact of gender-based violence, making it easier for perpetrators to attack, humiliate, impersonate or exploit women without being physically present.
Dr Padmini Kumar, a senior gynaecologist and President of JOGS, explained about digital exploration by Facebook, WhatsApp, social media, Twitter and the dark web. She educated the girls to be alert with social media and be safe from digital violence.

Dr Sreelatha, General Secretary, and Dr Rajitha, Treasurer of JOGS, explained how they can take the help of parents and teachers to get rid of any kind of digital violence. In charge principal T Pramod Kumar, NSS programme officers N Sangeeta Rani and G Sreelatha, Vasavi, Jyotsna, Veena, Sunitha, Jamuna, Paramesh and other faculty were present.
