Audit Week inaugurated by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director

HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 18, 2024:  Mr N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, inaugurated the Audit Week 2024 celebrations at the AGs Office Complex in Saifabad in Hyderabad on Monday.

The Supreme Audit Institution of India, one of the oldest institutions in the country, traces its origins back to 1858. The role of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India has evolved through legislation and practices during British India and continued in independent India after 1949.

To commemorate the historical inception of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) and its contributions to good governance, transparency, and accountability for over 160 years, November 16 is celebrated annually as ‘Audit Diwas,’ with the following week designated as Audit Week in the field offices of the Comptroller and Auditor General.

Audit Diwas 2024 marks the fourth celebration in a series that recognizes the history and heritage of the Supreme Audit Institution of India. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla, graced the inauguration on November 16, 2024, at the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in New Delhi.

In Hyderabad, Audit Week is being celebrated from November 18 to November 22, 2024, at the Accountants General Office Complex in Saifabad. This celebration involves six field offices of the C&AG in Hyderabad, which include:

– The Office of the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement)

– The Office of the Accountant General (Audit)

– The Office of the Director General of Audit (Central)

– The Office of the Principal Director of Audit, South Central Railway, Secunderabad

– The Office of the Principal Director of Commercial Audit, Hyderabad

– The Regional Capacity Building and Knowledge Institute, Hyderabad

The weeklong celebrations will feature workshops, panel discussions, a quiz program, display stalls, and cultural events. This week serves not only to honor the legacy of the CAG but also to engage with the public and stakeholders, highlighting the essential work performed by the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD). On the occasion of the fourth Audit Diwas, we reaffirm our commitment to serving this great nation. Through our public audits, we contribute significantly to good governance, inclusive growth, and sustainable development for the benefit of every citizen.
