KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 30, 2024:  At least 50 students were hospitalised following food poisoning at Sri Chaitanya residential Junior college opposite Mission hospital in Karimnagar town on Sunday.

Sources said that the students residing in the hostel of the junior college were served with stale food prepared with the left-over rice and sambar of the Saturday night causing vomiting of the students. They were immediately shifted to several private hospitals for treatment and their condition is stated to be stable. Some of the students were discharged and others were still undergoing treatment.

Several students unions including SFI rushed to the spot and staged a dharna in front of the college demanding action against the college management for their negligent attitude and playing with the lives of the students. They flayed the college management for providing stale food in spite of collections of huge fees from the students. They also urged the district authorities to conduct checking of all hostels to ensure that they provide good quality food to the students.
