HYDERABAD, AUGUST 11, 2026: Global biotechnology leader Amgen is set to establish a state-of-the-art Research and Innovation Centre at Genome Valley in Hyderabad, further strengthening Telangana’s position as a leading global destination for life sciences research and innovation.
Amgen India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana on Tuesday in the presence of IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat.
Earlier, a delegation from Amgen India met Minister Sridhar Babu and discussed the company’s plans to expand its operations in Hyderabad and deepen its engagement with Telangana’s rapidly growing life sciences ecosystem.
Following the meeting, Naveen Gullapalli, Managing Director, Amgen India, and Krishna Aditya, Special Secretary, Industries, Government of Telangana, exchanged the MoU documents.
Welcoming the development, Minister Sridhar Babu said the proposed Research and Innovation Centre at Genome Valley would create employment opportunities for highly skilled professionals and add further momentum to Hyderabad’s emergence as a global hub for advanced life sciences research.
Amgen, a global biotechnology company with a presence across around 100 countries and regions, develops innovative therapies across a wide range of areas, including oncology, cardiovascular diseases, bone health, inflammation, respiratory diseases, rare diseases and other serious medical conditions.
The Minister recalled that Amgen had recently established a major Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad with around 3,000 employees, reflecting the company’s growing confidence in the city’s talent pool, infrastructure and life sciences ecosystem.
“The continued expansion of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology leaders in Telangana is a matter of great pride for our government. It reflects the growing confidence of global companies in our state’s talent, infrastructure and innovation ecosystem,” Minister Sridhar Babu said.
He said Telangana was steadily emerging as a preferred destination for global life sciences companies, supported by its strong research capabilities, skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure and the established ecosystem at Genome Valley.
The Minister also urged Amgen to give priority to local youth and talent from Telangana while recruiting for the proposed research centre, so that the state’s young professionals can benefit from the high-value employment opportunities being created by the growing life sciences sector.
The new centre is expected to further strengthen Genome Valley’s position as a globally recognised cluster for biotechnology, pharmaceutical research and innovation and contribute to Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for high-end R&D activities.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Krishna Aditya, Special Secretary, Industries, Commissioner Industries Nikhil Chkravarthi; Sarvesh Singh, CEO, Telangana Life Sciences; Amgen India MD Naveen Gullapalli, ED Srini Kosaraju, Anumitha, and other senior officials and representatives.
