AISF stages dharna demanding thorough inquiry into irregularities in Satavahana University

They demanded action against VC, registrar, controller of examinations and principal of University College for involving in several irregularities 

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 05, 2024: Students associated with the AISF Karimnagar district unit have staged a dharna in front of the Satavahana University in Karimnagar town on Monday demanding the government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the irregularities conducted by Vice Chancellor S Mallesham, Registrar M Varaprasad, Controller of Examinations Ranga Prasad and University college principal V Jayanthi.

The students belonging to the AISF staged a dharna in front of the main gate of the University in Karimnagar town alleging that the Satavahana University was plagued with several controversies and siphoning of University funds by the authorities concerned and there was no academic activities to benefit the student community in the University.

Speaking on the occasion, AISF district president Ramarao Venkatesh and general secretary Macha Ramesh alleged that the controversies have become an order of the day in the Satavahana University under Vice Chancellor S Mallesham. There was examination paper leakages immediately after the VC took charge and again there was controversy over answer sheet scanning to a private agency, they stated.

Even after the University Pharmaceutical sciences college lands on the shores of LMD reservoir were on the verge of encroachment, the VC had failed to take any measures to protect the lands, they charged. Alleging that the VC had benefitted his family members in providing some rehabilitation postings, they said that the VC had appointed the adjunct teachers violating the UGC norms.

They also charged that the VC had taken up construction of additional buildings and other infrastructure only to secure commission from the contractors. They urged the district ministers D Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to conduct a thorough inquiry into the irregularities in the university and take stern action against the officials concerned.
