Awareness Workshop for Sarpanches and Corporators under Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 13, 2026: As part of the ongoing Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme, an Awareness Workshop for Sarpanches, Corporators, and Education Department officials was organised on Wednesday at the GDC for Women’s Collectorate Auditorium, Karimnagar. The programme aimed at creating awareness regarding higher education opportunities, employability-oriented courses, and student admissions in Government Degree Colleges.
Prof. D. Varalakshmi, Principal of Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar, participated in the workshop and explained the importance of AEDP (Advanced Employability Development Programme) courses introduced at the degree level. She stated that in the present competitive world, students require not only academic knowledge but also industry-oriented skills and practical exposure to become employable and self-reliant.
She informed the gathering that through AEDP courses, students can undergo industry training during their final year of degree education while also receiving stipends and scholarship support. These courses help students gain practical experience and improve their employment opportunities immediately after graduation.
The Principal appealed to Sarpanches and Corporators to create awareness at the village level so that more rural students can benefit from these employability-oriented programmes offered in Government Degree Colleges. She emphasised that Government Degree Colleges are providing quality education, skill development opportunities, and career guidance facilities at affordable and accessible levels for students from all backgrounds.
Prof. Varalakshmi also explained the degree admission process in detail and guided the participants regarding online application procedures, course selection, required certificates, and admission guidelines. She encouraged local representatives to motivate students and parents in rural areas to pursue higher education and make use of the facilities available in Government colleges.
During her presentation, the Principal gave a detailed introduction about the Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar. She explained that the college offers a wide range of programmes in Arts, Commerce, and Sciences with experienced faculty members and student-centred academic support systems.
She further highlighted the various facilities available in the college, including well-equipped laboratories, a spacious library with competitive examination and reference books, digital learning resources, skill development programmes, placement support, NCC, NSS, Women Empowerment activities, Health Club programmes, and various student clubs aimed at holistic development.
The Principal also informed the gathering that the ongoing Education Week celebrations under Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika are being organised with special focus on student progression, higher education opportunities, employability, personality development, community outreach, and health awareness.
SUDA Chairperson Komatireddy Narender Reddy, the Principal of DIET College, Mandal Education Officers from various mandals, Sarpanches, Corporators, and Education Department officials participated in the programme. The workshop served as an important platform for strengthening awareness regarding higher education and employability-oriented learning opportunities for rural students.
