HANAMKONDA, FEBRUARY 19, 2026: Kakatiya Government Degree College (Autonomous) in Hanamkonda, Telangana, opened its doors to an enriching academic experience with the inauguration of its International Conference, setting the stage for insightful deliberations on cutting-edge medical science and research. The event saw an esteemed gathering of professionals, scholars, and students. In his inaugural address, Professor G. Srinivas, President of the Conference and Principal of Kakatiya Government College, emphasised the transformative power of scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange in shaping the future of medical research and innovation.
The highlight of the opening day was the keynote address delivered by Professor K. Srinivas Murthy from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine, USA, who captivated the audience with his lecture on the “Molecular Basis of Medicine.” In his comprehensive talk, Professor Murthy highlighted the crucial role of cellular signalling pathways in regulating fundamental physiological processes, including growth, differentiation, metabolism, and apoptosis. He explained how malfunctions within these pathways can lead to severe health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, and a range of metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Drawing attention to the pivotal role of cell surface receptors, kinases, phosphatases, and intracellular signalling molecules as potential drug targets, he underscored the growing trend in modern medicine toward precision drug design targeting these molecular entities. “A deep understanding of cellular signaling mechanisms is vital for the development of effective, targeted therapeutic drugs,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of this field in medical advancements.

The conference also featured Professor R. Suresh from IIT Chennai, who provided an in-depth discussion of cancer — its causes, symptoms, and preventive measures — and highlighted the pressing need for early intervention. In a thought-provoking address, Professor A. Sridhar, an expert in Ayurveda, spotlighted the rising prominence of Ayurvedic medicine in contemporary biochemical research and its significance in disease prevention. “Ayurveda’s relevance in the modern world, particularly in disease prevention, cannot be overstated,” he said.
Further enriching the discourse, Professor Istari gave a presentation on viruses, exploring their transmission methods, the importance of precautionary measures, and treatment strategies, expanding the audience’s understanding of emerging global health challenges.
The event, chaired by Professor G. Srinivas, Principal of the College, was meticulously organized under the leadership of P. Rohini, the conference convenor. Vice-Principals Rajini Latha and Rajasekhar, IQAC Coordinator A. Srinath, and Departmental Coordinators from the Department of Zoology, including HoD of Zoology, T.D. Dinesh Kumar attended the day’s proceedings. Dinesh, P. Gauri, V. Rajayya, and Swami. The conference also saw active participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and academic growth.
This opening session not only marked the start of a high-profile international conference but also strengthened Kakatiya Government College’s position as a hub for scientific innovation and academic exchange in medical research and education.
