HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 15, 2026: Dr. T. M. Balakrishnan Nair, Director, INCOIS, has been elected as Chair of the UNESCO-IOC Sub-Commission for the Central Indian Ocean (IOCINDIO).
Dr. Turki Al-Saeed of Kuwait and Dr. Rezah M. Badal of Mauritius are reported as the newly elected Vice-Chairs, subject to confirmation of their official names and appointments.
This achievement provides an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration, advance ocean science and observations, and enhance ocean information and services across the Central Indian Ocean region.
