KARIMNAGAR, MAY 09, 2026: In a remarkable surgical success, doctors at Yashodha Hospitals, Hyderabad, led by Dr. Vivekananda Bheemisetty, Orthopaedic Surgeon, have successfully treated a 102-year-old female patient from Vemulavada who sustained a right hip injury.
Disclosing this to newsmen at Yashodha centre in Karimnagar town on Thursday, the Yashoda hospitals in Hyderabad conducted a complex hip-joint surgery on a 102-year-old patient. The patient had a remarkable recovery, and doctors were able to discharge her within two weeks after the operation. The centenarian, a resident of Vemulawada, had fallen at home a few days ago and sustained femoral neck fractures on the right side of her hip.
The patient was diagnosed with an intertrochanteric (IT) fracture of the right hip, a condition that poses significant challenges, particularly in elderly individuals with high surgical risk. Despite her advanced age and associated risks, the case was managed with utmost care, precision, and meticulous planning.
Dr. Vivekananda Bheemisetty successfully performed a hip fracture fixation surgery. Owing to timely intervention and a well-executed surgical technique, the patient was mobilised the very next day after surgery. She progressed rapidly, regaining independence in her daily activities within two weeks.
Three months following the procedure, the patient has made an excellent recovery and is now living independently in her native village, a testament to both the effectiveness of the surgical care and her resilience.
This case highlights the importance of early surgical intervention and specialised orthopaedic care, even in extremely high-risk elderly patients, enabling them to return to a functional and independent life.
