KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 04, 2026: Punarvasu Nakshathra, Lord Sri Rama’s birth star, is celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Narasihma Swamy temple in Kotla Narasimhupallu village of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district, on Sunday.
On this occasion, the Vedoktha Tirumanjana Seva is performed to the Moola Virat of Lord Seetha Rama at Narsimhulapalle temple to invoke blessings for peace, protection and dharma.
The main temple is dedicated to Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. The idol of the Lord is unique, featuring a rare 16-armed (shodasha bhujas) form and is considered self-manifested (swayambhu).
The village is named “Kotla” (forts) because it is surrounded by the remains of an ancient mud fort, and the temple complex itself has historical significance, with some parts potentially dating back to the 8th century AD or even the Satavahana dynasty period.
Besides the main deity, the complex also houses other deities, including a Hanuman temple and the Sitarama mandiram mentioned.
