RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JANUARY 06, 2026: There was a heavy pilgrim rush at Sri Baddi Pochamma temple in the Vemulawada temple town with the devotees forming serpentine queues to offer traditional ‘bonam’ to the presiding deity on Tuesday.
It is a ritual for the devotees to offer prayers at Baddi Pochamma temple after offering prayers at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada temple town. The devotees offer prayers at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple on Monday, and the next day (on Tuesday), they would offer prayers to Sri Baddi Pochamma temple by presenting her with bonam.
With the biennial Samakka-Sarakka jatara in Medaram scheduled to be held from January 28 to 31, the number of devotees rush at the Vemulawada temple shrines has increased. It may be mentioned that the devotees proceeding to the Medaram jatara would visit Vemulawada temple town and offer prayers to the presiding deities at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy and Baddi Pochamma temple. The devotees offer bonam and toddy to the presiding deity, as is a ritual at the Baddi Pochamma temple.

The temple authorities had also made elaborate arrangements in view of the heavy influx of pilgrims on the eve of Medaram Jatara. The devasthanam authorities had erected temporary shelters and regulated the devotees in the queue lines.
