KARIMNAGAR, MAY 26, 2024: Mild tension prevailed in Karimnagar town on Saturday night when Hanuman deeksha devotees were taking out a rally.
When the rally was proceeding, a person (Jaidev) had arrived at the spot and danced with a small knife causing commotion. The police rushed to spot and tried to take the person into custody. In the melee, there was arguments between the Hanuman devotees the police officials. The devotees alleged that the police had abused the devotees in a filthy language.
However, the police nabbed the person with knife and shifted him to the Karimnagar three town police station. The Hanuman devotees attacked the police vehicle and damaged the window panes. The Hanuman devotees staged a dharna at Mancherial cross roads flaying the police for abusing the devotees.
Later, the BJP leaders also rushed to the spot and participated in the rasta roko. Following the traffic jam, the police dispersed the mob by resorting to lathi-charge. The police arrested the protestors and took them to the police station. BJP national general secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar condemned the police act and informed them to have patience. He also found fault with the police for using filthy language against the Hanuman devotees.
