Sunrays pierce the dark clouds as Surya mantras are recited
TIRUMALA, OCTOBER 18, 2026: Sri Malayappa Swamy, in His original form, decked in a bright red Ixora garland, bestowed blessings on the divine Suryaprabha Vahanam on Sunday, as part of the seventh day of Navarathri brahmotsavams in Tirumala.
The Surya Prabha Vahanam symbolises Lord Surya, revered as the giver of energy, vitality and well-being to all living beings.
Scriptures describe the Sun as the source of light for nature and the force that illuminates even the Moon.
Devotees firmly believe that darshan of Sri Malayappa Swamy on the Surya Prabha Vahanam bestows good health, longevity, happiness, prosperity and noble progeny.

The celestial carrier started under cloudy weather with drizzles as it proceeded along four mada streets. But amidst the rhythmic and divine chants of Surya Mantras from the Taittariya Upanishad, the sun rays pierced through the dark clouds as soon as the Vahanam reached Pushkarini Point.
Devotees chanted Govinda… Govinda… with religious ecstasy at the very amusing sight.
Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swami, Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami, TTD Executive Officer Sri Muddada Ravichandra, Additional EO Sri Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, Board Members Sri Nannapaneni Sadashiva Rao and Smt. Janaki Devi, CVSO Sri Muralikrishna, CEO SVBC Sri Sridhar Verma and other officials participated in the morning Vahana Seva.
