Kartika Pournami celebrated with religious fervour at Vemulawada and other temples

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, NOVEMBER 15, 2024: Devotees thronged in large numbers to the ancient and historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district on the occasion of auspicious Kartika Pournami festival on Friday.

Since early morning, the devotees took a holy dip in the Holy tank (dharmagundam) and formed serpentine queues to offer prayers to the presiding deities of the temple shrine. The devotees competed in the traditional offering of tying an ox (kode mokku) at the shrine.

The womenfolk were seen lighting lamps as is a ritual during Kartika masam festivities. People including the newly-wed couples participated in the ‘kum kum’ puja. The temple town was packed to the brim with the arrival of hordes of devotees from various parts of the state and neighbouring states.

On the other hand, other Shiva temples and other ancient temples in the integrated Karimnagar district witnessed heavy pilgrims rush. The devotees made a beeline to the historic Koti Lingala temple shrine and Dharmapuri, Gomateshwara Swamy temple in Manthani and Kaleshwaram all shrines located along the river Godavari.

Devotees took a holy dip in the river Godavari and participated in the Kartika deepotsavam of leaving the lamps in the river Godavari.
