The State government has decided to develop a road for Kondagattu Giri Pradakshina. For this purpose, officials have prepared estimates for laying a 50-foot-wide road with a length of six kilometres. Of this, a three-kilometre stretch will be a ghat road, while the remaining portion will be an earthen road. Of the total 50 ft width, 30 ft will be the road and 20 ft a footpath.
The 1,150-metre stretch of the road falls under a forest area. The Forest Department has agreed to provide its land for the Giri Pradakshina, as it will be allotted endowment land in return. Lighting, parking, toilet and other facilities will also be developed along the road. Based on government instructions, Collector B Satya Prasad, along with officials from the Revenue, Forest, R&B, Panchayat Raj and other departments, examined the proposed Giri Pradakshina road on Monday.
The Collector instructed officials to take steps to develop drinking water facilities, toilets and rest centres along the road for the convenience of devotees. The government has instructed them to prepare the Giri Pradakshina plan on the lines of Arunachalam and Simhachalam. A report had already been submitted to the government for a 40 ft road, lighting arrangements and forest clearances. Additional Collector B Raju Goud, District Forest Officer Madasu Ravi Prasad, Jagtial RDO Madhusudan, Kondagattu temple EO Srikanth Rao and others participated in the programme.
