KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 13, 2026: As part of the ongoing Navarathri celebrations at Sri Maha Shakthi temple in Karimnagar town, the presiding deity Goddess Durga is traditionally adorned and worshipped in the divine form of Sri Annapurna Devi (Chandraghanta), symbolising physical and spiritual nourishment, on the third day of Navarathri, on Tuesday.
Sri Annapurna Devi is revered as the divine mother who provides food, abundance, and sustenance to all living beings. The deity is traditionally depicted holding a vessel of sacred food (rice) in one hand and a ladle (Garite) in the other, symbolising universal care and freedom from hunger.
In Hindu tradition, annam (food) is seen as a form of the Supreme Being (Brahman), and Annapurna is viewed as an aspect of Shakti who once offered alms to Lord Shiva himself.

Similarly, the presiding deities of Goddess Maha Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswathi were also beautifully adorned in Shakambari Alankaram, using a magnificent variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, leafy greens, flowers and the many vibrant colours gifted by nature.
There has been a surge in devotee footfall at Sri Maha Shakthi temple during the Navarathri celebrations on the third day on Tuesday. The devotees wearing Bhavani Deeksha mala also arrived in large numbers to offer prayers to the presiding deities. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who has taken the Bhavani Deeksha mala, also offered special prayers to the deities at the temple shrine.
