Alphores students celebrate Samakka-Sarakka jatara on school premises

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 22, 2024:  In order to enlighten the importance of biennial Samakka-Sarakka jatara in Medaram of Mulugu district, Alphores School of Gen Next at Vavilalapalli in Karimnagar town celebrated the tribal jatara festival with religious fervour and gaiety on Thursday.

Alphores educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy launched the celebrations by offering prayers to the portrait of Samakka-Sarakka and breaking coconuts. On this occasion, he educated the students about the importance of biennial Samakka-Sarakka jatara and tribal deities who fought against the Kakatiya dynasty over taxes. He informed the importance of offering jaggery (bangaram) to the deities.

The students in their traditional attire carrying jaggery as tribal priests participated in the festivities with religious fervour. The students danced to the rhythmic beats as part of the festival.
