KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 08, 2026: In a strange incident, an unidentified person has stolen a police patrol vehicle belonging to the Karimnagar Rural Police Station in the early hours on Tuesday, raising concerns after the vehicle was later involved in an accident near Elkathurthi in Warangal district.
According to reports, the unidentified person allegedly took the police patrol Innova from the Karimnagar Rural Police Station during midnight hours and drove it around the city through the night. The vehicle was reportedly heading towards Warangal in the early morning when it met with an accident near Elkathurthi. On receiving information about the accident, police alerted their personnel and reached the spot.
According to reports, the man, a native of Bommakal, allegedly took the Innova from the police station and headed towards Hanamkonda. He reportedly threw the wireless set onto the road and continued driving the vehicle. The man allegedly wore a police cap, carried a police lathi present in the vehicle and attempted to collect money from people while using the police vehicle. Local police who noticed the incident immediately intercepted the man and took him into custody before handing him over to the Karimnagar police. The stolen vehicle was later shifted to the City Police Training Centre. Further details are awaited.
