

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 26, 2025: The Karimnagar medical and health department has seized the mobile ultrasound scanning machine at Srilatha Maternity Nursing Home in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.


Following the instructions from the state medical and health and family welfare commissioner and also District Collector Pamela Satpathy, DMHO Dr Venkataramana had constituted a special team with medical and health, police department and revenue authorities and launched a special drive against the ultrasound scanning centres for conducting illegal scanning violating PNDT Act.
The special team found that that the Srilatha Nursing home found that that there were several deficiencies in maintaining mandatory records under the PNDT Act. During checking of the record, the special team found several deficiencies in Form F meant for recording details about pregnant women. Reference of patients’ doctors were missing in several forms and signatures of doctors were also different.
The authorities said that they would carry out checks of ultrasound centres to check foeticide and improve gender ratio. Revenue Inspector Ramulu, junior assistant Bapu Dev, ASI Vijayamani, PO DTT Dr Umasri, PCPNDT programme officer Dr Sana Javeria, Sakhi consultant D Lakshmi and others were also present.
