JAGTIAL, JULY 11, 2024: The Jagtial district police have arrested three persons and seized ganja weighing 6.03 kilograms worth Rs 1.2 lakhs, three mobile phones and Rs 3,500 cash from their possession.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said that the police have arrested Durgam Ramu (23) from Dharmapuri, Dinesh Kumar Nayak (30) (Odisha state) and Gujjala Purushotham (49) from Andhra Pradesh state and seized the contraband by the Dharmapuri police
Recently, the Dharmapuri police station had registered a case on July 4, 2024, against Bathini Chandu, Dinesh Kumar Nayak and Durgam Ramu under NDPS sections. Chandu and Venkatesh were remanded to judicial custody ad Ramu was absconding. Following the information, the police have waylaid and arrested Ramu and seized the contraband weighing 6.03 kgs.
Following the interrogation, the accused Ramu had confessed that Dinesh Nayak from Odisha state was cultivating the ganja and selling it to Gujjala Purushotham and distributing the same for making fast bucks. The police have registered a case under NDPS Act.
The SP said that they had constituted Anti-Drugs Committee (ADC) and would intensify their drive against the drugs and other narcotics substances. He assured to make the Jagtial district a drugs-free district. DSP Raghu Chander, Inspector Ramanarasimha Reddy, SIs Uday Kumar and Ch Satish and constabulary staff were also presented and were rewarded by the SP.
