NIRMAL, JULY 12, 2024: The Nirmal district police Social media cell had arrested three youngsters for robbing the public of their valuables by terrorising using a fake pistol and also for inviting anti-social elements on Instagram. The police have seized a fake pistol, scooter and three mobile phones from their possession.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Friday, Nirmal Superintendent of Police Dr Janaki Sharmila sad that they have arrested Avej Chaush (27), Shaik Mateenuddi (18) and Shaik Adil (18), all belonging to different parts of the town while moving suspiciously in Mancherial Chowrasta. She said that the three were committing offences in order to make a fast buck by forming a gang. They were targeting couples in parks and secluded places, passengers in bus stations using the fake pistol procured from Hyderabad. They were also inviting anti-social elements by creating a page on the photo and video sharing platforms. Mateenuddin was arrested for stealing mobile phones in the past.
On this occasion, the SP said that they had constituted a special social media cell to monitor 24×7 and warned of stern action if anyone tries to create disturbances in the district by sending controversial and provocation messages. Town DSP Ganga Reddy, Town CI Praveen Kumar, Nirmal rural inspector Srinivas, head constable Ganesh, Vijay, Varma and others were also present.
