Remanded to 14 days judicial custody
KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 08, 2024: Former Kothapalli tahsildar Chilla Srinivas, (Presently working at Gajwel), and his benami Chanda Santosh and former Kothapalli VRA Palle Jeevan, (presently working as junior assistant at Tumkunta Municipal office) were arrested on Thursday evening and remanded to 14 days judicial custody on the charges of grabbing land by using forged documents.
According to police, Bonthala Raghu, a resident of Seetharampur in Karimnagar town, said that his grandfather Ilaiah had distributed the land in Rekurthi to his sons in 2012. The land after mutation was visible on online later about 30 guntas of land disappeared in online. Immediately, he approached then Kothapalli tahsildar Chilla Srinivas, who demanded three guntas of land as bribe. But, Raghu refused to do so.
After the death of grandfather, the tahsildar created fake documents stating that the land was registered in the name of Raghu’s grandmother. Later, the said land was registered in the name of VRA Jeevan and later to his benami Santosh. He registered three guntas of land in the name of Santosh and other remaining land in the name of Raghu’s relatives.
The police registered a case under IPC sections 467, 468, 471, 409, 420, 120-B read with IPC 34 against 12 persons. The police arrested A1 Chilla Srinivas and A2 Chanda Santosh and A11 Palle Jeevan and others are absconding.
It may be recalled that the Kothapalli police have also registered a case to grab 15 guntas of land in Kothapalli by using forged documents along with BRS leader and district Olympic association president Nandelli Mahipal. The police have already remanded Mahipal in that case.
