Fake certificate racket busted in Jagtial, four arrested and 396 fake certificates recovered

JAGTIAL, MARCH 10, 2024: The Jagtial district police have busted a fake certificate with the arrest of four persons and seizure 395 fake certificates of various universities, Rs 25,000 cash, five mobile phones, a laptop, a CPU and a two-wheeler from their possession.

Disclosing this to newsmen on Saturday, Jagtial Superintendent of Police Sunpreet Singh said that Kodithala Mahesh, a resident of Jaina village, was planning to go Gulf nations to eke out a living, wanted an SSC pass certificate  to get a passport with an ‘Emigration Check not required’ stamp to secure job abroad. Through Kokkerakani Chandraiah, he approached Bathinoju Rajitha (33), resident of Ramnagar in Karimnagar town, to secure SSC pass certificate. She collected Rs 28,000 and his Aadhar card number etc and issued a SSC pass certificate from the National Institute of Open School.

Mahesh applied for ECNR passport and the special branch during the inquiry it found that the SSC certificate was fake. The Dharmapuri police registered a case under IPC sections 420, 465, 468, 471, 109 read with 34 and launched the investigation. During the investigation, the police found that Rajitha and her husband Sravan Kumar, have decided to make fast money and accordingly they came in contact with Rabi Rai from West Bengal through Just Dial in the year 2020.

Rabi Rai was involved in the business of preparing fake certificates of various institutions. He told them that he would prepare certificates of any university and institutions which would be like ‘original’ and charges Rs 30,000 for SSC and Intermediate, Degree Rs 40,000 and Engineering Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 depending upon the reputation of the engineering college.

The couple used to send the details of candidates including year of passing etc. Rabi Rai used to prepare fake certificate and send through courier. After receiving the certificates, the couple would send 50 per cent of the amount to Rabi Rai’s mother Laskhmi Rai’s account. Since last over three years, they had issued more than 100 fake certificates. So far, Rajitha had made Rs 15.41 lakh payment to Lakshmi Rai through Phone pay.

The police arrested Rajitha and her husband Sravan Kumar from Karimnagar town, Mahesh and Chandraiah from Jaina village of Dharmapuri mandal. Rabi Rai and Lakshmi Rai are at large. The police probe is underway to determine how many people had managed to get the fake certificates.

The SP appreciated the Jagtial DSP D Raghuchandan, Dharmapuri inspector Ram Narasimha Reddy, CCS inspector Venkateshwarlu, Dharmapuri SI P Uday Kumar CCS SI A Naresh Kumar, SB head constable R Narsinga Rao, constables Naveen Kumar, M Ramesh, K Venu, Ramesh, Vinod and others and rewarded them.
