Police seize 2.05 quintals of fake seeds worth Rs 6.75 lakhs and arrested one accused person

A bullock-cart and two bulls also seized

RAMAGUNDAM, JUNE 05, 2024: The Neelvai police in association with the Agricultural department officials have seized banned fake BT cotton seeds weighting 2.05 quintals worth Rs 6.75 lakhs and arrested a person in Vemanapalli mandal in Mancherial district on Wednesday.

Disclosing this to newsmen at Ramagundam, Commissioner of Police M Srinivasulu said that on credible information the police and Vemanapalli mandal agricultural officer have intercepted a bullock-cart carrying 2.05 quintals of banner BT cotton seeds and arrested Kola Saikiran (23) of Kotapalli village in Sironcha taluq in Maharastra state at Ferry point in Gadchirowli district.

Another accused Kola Ramesh (50) of Gadchirowli district escaped from the spot. The police seized 6.75 lakh worth of BT cotton seeds. The accused had confessed that he was procuring the fake seeds from Maharashtra state to sell in Mancharial district. He said that he had procured the seeds from Sumith and Janga Sampath of Maharashtra state. The police seized the fake seeds along with a bullock-cart and two bulls.

The CP congratulated the Neelvai police station SI Shyam Patel and constables Rajender and Rajashekhar and handed over reward amount. Mancherial DSP Ashok Kumar, Additional DCP (admn) Raju, Jaipur ACP Venkateshwarlu, Chennur Rural CI Sudhakar, Neelvai SI Shyam Patel and others were also present.
