DCA seizes medicines with misleading claims to treat ‘Urinary stones and Rheumatism’

HYDERABAD, MARCH 12, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, seized certain medicines due to misleading claims on their labels, stating that they treat ‘Urinary Stones’ and ‘Rheumatism’ which are in in contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 and Schedule J of Drugs Rules, 1945.

In an official release here on Wednesday, DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that they had seized URIFLOW Oral Solution, an Allopathic Medicine, claimed to treat ‘Urinary Stones’, Sandhi Yog Syrup, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Rheumatism’ and Stone Gone Capsules, an Ayurvedic Medicine, claimed to treat ‘Renal Stones’ during the raids in Medchal, Adilabad and Sangareddy district on Tuesday and Wednesday. B Mounika, Drugs Inspector, Medchal; A Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Adilabad; and T Praveen Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Bollaram, are among the officers who carried out the raids. Further investigation shall be carried out, and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

The DCA DG said that the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
