

HYDERABAD, MAY 09, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a quack’s clinic in Vavilala Village, Jinnaram Mandal, Sangareddy District, and seized drugs illegally stocked for sale.


Since January 2024, the DCA has registered cases against 160 quacks for the illegal stocking and sale of drugs.

The DCA officials said that on credible information, they raided the premises of a quack/unqualified practitioner R. Sathyanarayana, situated at Grampanchayat Road, Vavilala Village, Jinnaram Mandal, Sangareddy District, who was conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications at his clinic. During the raid, DCA officials detected 25 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, IV fluids etc. stocked at the premises without a drug licence. Expired Drugs were also found. Worth of the stock seized is Rs. 10,000/-.
The DCA officials detected several ‘antibiotics’ viz. Cefpodoxime, Amoxicillin, Metronidazole, etc, at the clinic during the raids. Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on the health of the public, including the emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’. G. Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Jinnaram, carried out the raid along with Sri. T. Praveen Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Bollaram, under the supervision of Sri. P. Ramu, Assistant Director, Patancheru.
DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation will be carried out, and action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
DCA Director Shahnawaz Qasim said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
