KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 27, 2024: In the wake of reports about food contamination and food poisoning by serving stale food during the midday meal scheme in the government schools, Collector Pamela Satpathy has instructed all the Mandal Educational Officers (MEOs) to visit at least one school in a day and eat midday meals served for the students in the government schools.
At a meeting with the MEOs in her camp office in Karimnagar town on Wednesday, the Collector informed the MEOs that the students studying in the government should not suffer and take all necessary for their wellbeing. Informing the MEOs to ensure that the midday meal workers take all necessary measures such as hygiene while cooking the food, she instructed them to inspect the storeroom, records and inspect the quality of food served.
Directing them to eat the midday meals along with the children in the schools to check the quality of food served, she suggested they to inform the parents of the students to visit to school and taste the midday meals served in the schools. Informing them to ensure that there was no compromise on the quality of the food served during the midday meals, she instructed the MEOs to ensure that the midday meal workers followed the menu as per the government order.
The Collector also instructed the MEOs to ensure that no student is allowed to use mobile phones on the school premises. She also informed the MEOs to shift the students to the medical officers for treatment instead of approaching RMPs. DEO Ch Janardhan Rao and others were also present.
