
NEW DELHI, JUNE 12, 2025: In a shocking incident, Air India flight number 171 bound to London (UK) from Ahmedabad (Gujarat) collapsed after take-off from the runway at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon.
The plane crashed near a residential area. There were 242 passengers, 16 cabin crew and four captains on board. The Air India wide-body Dreamliner plane can transport 300 people. As the travel distance to a longer place in London, the place was filled with adequate fuel, which had added further fire. The fire tenders were fighting to extinguish the fire.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu said that he is shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. “We are on high alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed the Civil aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action”, he stated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Civil Aviation Minister and instructed him to ensure all necessary support is extended immediately. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, the state’s Home Minister and Police Commissioner regarding the plane crash.
It is believed that former CM Vijay Rupani may have been among the passengers of the Air India flight that crashed.
