KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 01, 2024: The Gangadhara police have arrested a couple on the charges of cheating a businessman by mortgaging their agricultural land for taking loan and later creating fake documents and selling the same to other persons.
Gangadhara Sub-inspector of police Abhilash said that the accused persons Mala Kanakaiah and Mala Manjula, residents of Himmathnagar in Gangadhara mandal have taken loan from a businessman Singireddy Mohan Reddy, Karimnagar town, Rs 30 lakhs in 2016 and Rs 26 lakhs in 2017 by mortgaging their 3.39 acres of land in Upparamalyala village and also given two cheques.
Later, they concealed the information and created forged documents and sold the land to some other persons. When the businessman was informed about the selling of land, he asked them why they had done this. For which, the accused persons had threatened to eliminate him and warned him of dire consequences.
Following a complaint lodged by businessman Mohan Reddy, the Gangadhara police have registered a case and arrested the accused couple and produced before the court. The court sentenced them to undergo 14 days judicial custody.
