JAGTIAL, OCTOBER 07, 2024: The Jagtial district police recovered 104 stolen and lost mobile phones worth around Rs 20 lakhs by using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
Jagtial SP Ashok Kumar handed over the recovered mobile phones to their owners at a press conference on Monday. So far, the district police have recovered 601 mobile phones.
The SP appealed to the citizens to report lost mobile phones either at the nearest police station or directly through the CEIR portal for swift recovery. He said, “The CEIR is a dedicated centralised system that manages and tracks mobile devices using their international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) numbers.”
He said they had constituted a special team headed by an Inspector rank officer to recover stolen or lost phones in the district. The special team is headed by an Inspector, RSI, a head constable and two constables.
Appealing to the people not to neglect the lost phone as it would prove dear for them as they would lose their personal information and cause concern over social security, he said there was every possibility of committing crimes by using the stolen phones. He urged the people to lodge complaints with CEIR immediately. He also cautioned the people about the purchase of second phones and check IMEI numbers in the applications.
He also informed the people who found any lost phones to hand over to the nearest police station or dial to its original owner immediately. On this occasion, the SP felicitated the IT Core inspector Rafiq Khan, CEIR team RSI Krishna, head constable Mahamood, constable Azar, Yakub and Mallesham.
