TIRUPATI, FEBRUARY 24, 2024: The 894th Origin Day of the Pilgrim City of Tirupati will be henceforth celebrated by TTD in a grand manner on par with the annual Brahmotsavam, said TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakara Reddy.

During the Formation day celebrations of Tirupati on Saturday at Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple premises the TTD Board Chief said the temple city was named as Govindarajapuram and the foundation was laid on 24-2-1130 by Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Ramanujacharya.

He said TTD Board had decided to celebrate the day on February 24 and as part of TTD calendar of events every year. He said the ancient historical cities like Mesopotamia, Lashkar, Nippar etc have vanished and cultures of Athens, Rome and Mayan disappeared along with the time. But it is only for Tirupati, the credit of celebrating the day of Origin goes sound with the benign blessings of Srivaru and we are all fortunate to be denizens of this great city.

Speaking on the occasion the TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy said steps are being taken to spiritually beautify Tirupati on par with Tirumala as devotees pass through Tirupati on way to Tirumala for Srivari Darshan. Assuring that TTD will support all development activities in Tirupati.

Thrilling Shobha Yatra

The grand Shobha Yatra began from Sri Govindarajaswami temple after special pujas in which hundreds of artists of HDPP, Annamacharya and Dasa Sahitya projects participated singing Govinda Nama, Chakka bhajans,kolatam besides Veda pundits chanting Bhakti Chaitanya shlokas.

Major attraction were artists adorned in the guise of Devatas and mythological characters.

Tirumala Pontiffs Sri Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar swami and Sri Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar swami, MP Gurumurthy, Collector Sri Lakshmi Sha, MLC C.Subramanyam, JEO Veerabrahmam, SP Malika Garg, Mayor Dr Shirisha, Deputy Mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy, FA & CAO  Balaji, CE Nageswara Rao, CPRO Ravi were also present.
