KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 29, 2025: Satavahana Urban Development Authority (SUDA) Chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy has announced to conduct an inquiry into the allegations levelled by BRS Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar and Municipal corporators against former Mayor Y Sunil Rao who shifted his loyalty to BJP when his term was about to complete in few days.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the SUDA Chairman and also Karimnagar City Congress president said that the party had agitated against the alleged unscientific execution of Smart City without any vision for the sake of commissions. He said that the BRS leaders including its legislator G Kamalakar and corporators had ratified his stand following the shifting of Mayor Sunil Rao to BJP when his term was about to end in three days.
He urged the BRS leaders to extend all support for the inquiry committee and assured to take penal action against former Mayor Sunil Rao for destroying the Karimnagar town in the name of Smart city works and swindling public exchequer. Alleging that his allegations of BRS and BJP are the same are proved with the former Mayor joining the BJP recently, he charged that then BJP Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar remained a mute spectator when the Congress had made allegations in the execution of central government-sponsored Smart City works in Karimnagar town.
Charging that the BRS and BJP had together swindled the public money in the smart City works, he said that the Karimnagar town had turned into ‘ugly city’ in the name of smart city with the conversion of wide roads into narrow roads, converting the circus grounds and multipurpose grounds into paid parks, encroachments of roads, no markets to sell vegetables forcing the vendors to sell on the roads causing traffic snarls and more woes to the people of the town.
The Congress government had taken up taken widening of roads and the creation of markets and parks, but the BRS government in collusion with BJP had destroyed the Karimnagar town in the name of Smart City works for the commissions, he charged. He said that under the Smart City project, the MCK had spent Rs 16 crore for bio-mining at the garbage dumping yard, but it did not function not more than 16 hours causing serious health hazards to the people of the town due to frequent fire mishaps in the dumping yard.
Reiterating that the Congress alone would ensure transparency and development of Karimnagar town, he appealed to the people to elect only the Congress in the ensuing elections and reject the BRS and BJP combine. Congress party leaders G Srinivas Reddy, M Sayanarayana Reddy, V Venkat Reddy, Shravan Naik, JD Ram,esh, Kurra Pochaiah, Danna Singh, A Ramesh, Mahesh, Shabana, Kavitha, Mahalakshmi, Padma, Basheer, Jameel, Asraf and others were also present.
