HYDERABAD, JANUARY 18, 2025: Telangana state Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Battui Vikramarka has said that the government has decided to present Gaddar Film awards from the Ugadi festival from this year onwards.
Mr Batti chaired the Gaddar Film Awards Committee meeting at Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad on Saturday (January 18, 2025). At the first meeting of the committee held in October 2024, Mr Bhatti said that the government wants the awards ceremony to be celebrated like a festival. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to institute the awards in the name of revolutionary balladeer Gaddar in January last year.
The Deputy CM said that the government would present awards to the best Telugu feature films in various categories. He informed the officials to design a logo for the cultural icon Gaddar. He also launched a scathing attack against the BRS government for neglecting the film industry by not providing any awards during its 10-year regime.
Reiterating the Telangana Congress government had decided to provide Gaddar film every year at the Ugadi festival, he said that the government would also take measures for the development of the film industry in the Telangana state. Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju, MD Dr Harish, ED Kishore Babu, committee chairman B Narsing Rao, members Jayasudha, Thammareddy Baradwaj, Harish Shankar, Vandemataram Srinivas, Gummadi Vennela, Allani Sridhar and others were also present.
