

ESI hospital supply drugs found in Karimnagar medical store
HYDERABAD, OOCTOBER 23, 2024: Officials of Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, has maintained a vigilant stance, actively monitoring and detecting various offences, including the illegal stocking of ‘ESI Hospital Supply Drugs’ worth Rs. 4.87 lakhs in Karimnagar.
In this case, a Government Pharmacist, Dunaboina Murali Rao, working at the ESI Dispensary in Sirpur-Kagaznagar, illegally diverted ESI Hospital Supply drugs to Gampa Krishna, Managing Partner of Sri Srinivasa Medical and General Stores, Karimnagar.
In a separate event, DCA seized 54 varieties of expired drugs that were stocked along with saleable drugs at Bhargavi Medical Stores in Namalagundu, Warasiguda, Secunderabad. DCA busted the illegal stocking and sale of drugs by quacks and unlicensed practitioners at nine locations across the state.
In a separate event, DCA raided a medical shop located in Bhainsa Village, Nirmal District, which was operating illegally without a drug license, and seized drugs that were illegally stocked for sale.
Furthermore, the DCA seized ‘RESOLAC-R Sachets’ in Malakpet that were falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals. During the raids conducted from 15th to 22nd October, 2024, DCA seized stocks worth Rs. 9.15 lakhs.
DCA Director-General V B Kamalasan Reddy said based on credible information, on 16th October 2024, officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Karimnagar Zone, raided Sri Srinivasa Medical and General Stores, located at Osmanpura, Karimnagar, and detected ESI hospital supply drugs that were illegally stocked for sale. During the raid, five varieties of drugs labeled as ‘ESI SUPPLY NOT FOR SALE’ were seized, with stocks worth Rs. 4.87 lakhs. The drugs seized included antidiabetic and antiasthmatic medications, etc.
Upon investigation, it was found that Dunaboina Murali Rao, working as a Pharmacist Grade-II at the ESI Dispensary in SPM Colony, Sirpur-Kagaznagar, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad District, illegally diverted ESI hospital supply stocks to Gampa Krishna, Managing Partner of Sri Srinivasa Medical and General Stores in Karimnagar.
Seizure of expired drugs at Bhargavi Medical Stores, Namalagundu, Warasiguda, Secunderabad.
The officials raided a medical shop named Bhargavi Medical Stores, located at Namalagundu, Warasiguda, Secunderabad, on 18th October, 2024, and detected huge quantity of expired medicines stocked along with saleable drugs on the racks of the medical shop. A total of 54 varieties of expired medicines were found stocked at the premises. DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 60,000 during the raid.
Clinics of Quacks/Unauthorized Practitioners
The DCA officials conducted nine raids on clinics operated by quacks and unauthorized practitioners who were practicing medicine without proper qualifications from 15th October to 22nd October 2024. During these raids, illegally stocked drugs worth Rs. 3.52 lakhs intended for sale were seized at various locations across the state.
The quacks clinics were raided at Gandhi Chowk, Pangal mandal, Wanaparthy, Jayapuram village, Narsimhulapeet, Mahabubabad district, Laxmi first aid centre, Pashamylaram village, Patancheru, Sangareddy district, Ramayampet, Medak district, Salkarpet village, Nagarkurnool district, Ushannapalli, Peddapalli district, Bachupalli, Medchal-Malkajgiri district and Narayanpet district.
Unlicensed Medical Shop in Gokul Nagar, Bhainsa Village
Acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a shop located at Gokul Nagar, Bhainsa Village, Bhaina Mandal, Nirmal District on 18th October, 2024. Adluri Karthik was running a medical shop at the said premises illegally without a drug licence.
During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. 11 varieties of medicines including antibiotics, antidiabetic drugs, etc. are found stocked for sale at the premises. DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 15,000 during the raid.
Seizure of drugs falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’
During the raids carried out on 23rd October, DCA officials detected certain drugs falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’. Drugs Control Administration officials of Secunderabad Zone have detected the product ‘RESOLAC-R Sachets’ (Saccharomyces Boulardii, Lactic acid Bacillus & Racecadotril 10mg) circulating in the market. The product was falsely manufactured under a ‘food license (FSSAI license)’ and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical.
