BIRED launches training for women in Zardosi and Maggam works for their self-employment

KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 16, 2024: The Bankers Institute of Rural and Entrepreneurship Development (BIRED) Karimnagar has launched the 40-day training programme on Zardosi and Maggam work for the benefit of women Self-Help Group members in Malkapur village on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Wednesday.

The BIRED is providing training to the womenfolk under the auspices of Janavikasa rural development organisation. About 60 women from the village would be undergoing training for 40 days and make them self-employed by learning the popular art of zardosi and maggam works. The training was inaugurated by Lead District Manager Anjaneyulu along with BIRED director Nagaraju Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion,  Karimnagar LMD Anjaneyulu called upon the womenfolk to utilise the opportunity and set up their own units as part of self-employment programme. He said that the banks would provide financial assistance under JLG groups and added that the loans would be provided to the women SHGs without any guarantees in the banks through Stree Shakti programme.

BIRED Director Nagaraju said that women should achieve economic development through loom work. This training program will continue for 40 days. He said that they would supply raw material and free food and accommodation. After the training, the certificates will be provided and help them in setting up their own units by providing financial assistance through banks.

Indian Overseas Bank Manager Krishna said that they would give loans to the women who learn the loom work. Pendli Sampath Kumar, Secretary of Janavikasa Rural Development Organization and Janavikasa Coordinator Raju Janavikasa, Zardosi trainer Manisha and Maggam Work Trainer Surya Kumari, VOA Harish, SERP CC Priyadarshini and others were also present.
